Minden Facilities - Special Bond Election on November 4, 2014

The Long Range Facilities Planning process began in 2005. The DLR Architectural and Engineering Firm completed a detailed facilities analysis in 2012. Patrons were invited to attend facility meetings beginning in November 2011 through June 2014 to analyze potential solution options to the issues identified in the analysis. The issues identified included inadequate instructional classroom spaces, aging infrastructure, as well as safety and security issues.á The solution options ranged from renovations to the replacement of the East Elementary and the Minden High School buildings. The Minden Public Schools Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution on June 9, 2014 calling for a bond issue election on November 4, 2014. The $23,105,000 plans include a new high school as well additions and improvements to the existing middle school building. If a bond is approved this fall, a new high school could open by the fall of 2016.

Three public facility meetings have been scheduled to share facility information and to provide tours of the high school.á Each meeting will take place in the high school gym.á

Welcome to Minden Public Schools
It is my pleasure and privilege to serve as the Superintendent of the Minden Public Schools. Our school district's mission statement, "Minden Public Schools, with the community, strives to develop productive and responsible citizens through an environment that empowers them to seek, understand, and appreciate learning,” speaks to our goal of equipping our children with the academic and social skills that they need to be successful citizens now and in the future.

Minden Public Schools currently serves 778 students and families. We have a dedicated and caring staff whose main concerns are for the safety, welfare, and education of the children we serve. We are very proud of our students, families, and staff members and the learning opportunities they experience together each and every day.

I want to thank each of you in advance for your efforts to make this school district and community a great place for children. No matter what your connection is to our schools, your contribution to making a difference in the lives of our children is valued and appreciated.
